I was recently at a collectors market, where they were selling all that old-fashioned stuff... as I wandered around, I was thinking that in those times before everything was cheaply mass-produced, they took such pains to make everyday- objects beautiful... The telephones, handkerchiefs, furniture, everything was a work of art...
I love that romantic or Victorian style... it´s such a contrast from a lot of ugliness that is everywhere today... and all those ´little things´ like tiny potpourri satchets & pillows, lace handkerchiefs, tiny jewellery boxes, ornamented mirrors... I love to browse at the flea market for that kind of stuff... including old lacey nightwear :-)
BTW, check out this site I just found: [ur=http://www.greenlightwrite.com/graciousliving.html]Gracious Living - Victorian Life [/url] It´s full of little crafts and stories and things...

Hehe.. yeah, nowadays everything is just cheap mass-produced crap. We're so cheap, we can't even be bothered to produce our own crap Really, art should be more integrated into life than it is. Not just victorian, but some more modern art too.

Everything original rocks !!! It doesn´t have to be Victorian, I just meant that in those times people still cared to make things beautiful... And, well, I´m a sucker for lace and romance ,-) Moder art can be beautiful too, I know !
