Just curious as to what everyone is missing the most during this pandemic, from the way life used to be previously. It seems like things changed pretty suddenly out here, and now that it's been nearly 6 months of this "new normal" ... it just gets me thinking of what exactly I miss doing from before the virus hit.
For me, it's the simple weekend 'date' of going out to dinner and a movie. I didn't realize how much I would miss that. Or how much I looked forward to it during the week!
What about you? What do you miss most from what was allowed before?

I just miss being able to go anywhere or do anything, without a mask, anytime we wanted to. Spur of the moment going out to eat, and actually being able to sit in the restaurant and eat. Working without a mask is another thing. I help a neighbor whenever he can use me doing tree work, but because were doing it on customers property, we have to wear masks. Just kind of tough when you get winded from what you're doing.
But, I can't complain too much. It could be worse I guess. But I sure would like things back the way they were.

ohh, right, the not-wearing-a-mask everywhere is one of my top things too. We had to go out to 2 stores last night for errands and both times I started walking to the store entrance without the mask on until I remembered. I hate wearing the thing. And yeah, I can imagine how uncomfortable it would be in that scenario as well.

It makes it hard for me to breathe when I'm doing physical work. I get out of breath when we get really going and the mask just makes it worse. I want to cheat and pull it down under my nose or let it hang off of one ear, but with my luck we'd have that one customer that would see it and complain. I don't work much as it is, I need all the hours he can give me, so I go with it.

Honestly, I miss the ignorance.
Like, you've heard about pandemics and stuff throughout the ages. Hell, even in recent years. It was just one of those things that to a simple midwestern guy such as myself, didn't happen here. For the very few on here who know who I am, let alone know me personally, they'd tell you I overthink....analyze.... everything. That being said I had a lot...a lot of stuff on my radar that could impact my life significantly.... but man, not that.
I had COVID early March of last year. It was bad. I made videos to show my young son because I really was not confident I would come out the other side of the sickness as it began to ramp up. It took my father-in-law across the road from us (I was likely the one who gave it to him) just a few short weeks (of a forced coma) later. Left my Mother-in-law with scarred lungs and facing the prospect of disability (she's improving, but slowly, thank God). And also has forced me to sell my and her homes in order to build a new home so my wife and I can help care for her.
Honestly, after facing COVID I feel like regardless of how many scenarios I've covered in my mind. I have very little grasp of anything.
So yeah, I miss the illusion of control that comes from the ignorance of such a threat, I guess.

That was very well-said, Asintended! I, for one, am glad that you pushed through and overcame it all. I can understand what you're saying here as well. I'm sorry about your father-in-law also... unfortunately, I can relate to that also.

For me it was simple things like doing what i want when i want, meals out etc & mostly not having to wear a mask.
Luckily things are started to ease so much now & it's so weird to get used to things easing after having restrictions for soooo long.
