This article was listed on my LinkedIn email that I get every week and it intrigued me enough to read the whole thing. It's funny and true at the same time. How E-mail and Texting Have Driven People to Overuse Exclamation Points"[...] I recall more than a few “How are you!” e-mails. Since when did an exclamation point wrestle a helpless question mark into submission?" ^^ Haha, I have to admit, I'm guilty of this a few times... "Exclamation points are no longer tough, they’ve been emasculated into sweet little blue birds delivering happy thoughts." So what do you all think? Do you overuse exclamation points?! I know I tend to do that sometimes when I'm feeling especially happy about something...

No, I don't find myself overusing punctuation. And the rare time that I do, I'm not really talking as myself. I guess you could say that I'm exaggerating the opinions of people who are paranoid.

I'm guilty,I overuse it. It's hard sometimes to convey some feelings so for me it' s easier to use it!!

Yeah, I think it's great for bringing out certain feelings that you couldn't do otherwise with just a period. Especially since it's more difficult to truly express what you're feeling through typing. That's how I use it too.

hahaha, yes I overuse it all the time. Like when wishing someone a happy birthday, or to convey more excitement than I feel comes across in just text.

I use a lot of exclamation marks, but I don't think I overuse them, I think they're a very useful tool for giving emphasis to dramatic statements. But I do overuse commas sometimes, and often when I re-read what I've written, I go back and delete a few. And while I'm confessing, I often start a sentence with words like And and But, which is frowned upon in the higher echelons.
&Waffles~ I've seen both of these (XD and :3) around the traps a lot... Pardon my ignorance but what do they mean?

She probably won't get around to answering you anytime soon, but I can tell you that " XD " is another form of a smiley face, if you look at it sideways. I'd say it's kind of the equivalent to this smiley --> The other one is another smiley but I'm not really sure what it implies, as I think the younger (like teenagers and early 20s) generation uses it the most...

I think it all depends on the context in which they are used to be fair.
But mostly they are used to emphasize on a point.
However, i don't think I overuse them!!!!
