So my laptop is dying a slow death. Keith has tried different methods for helping me recover it... but I think our efforts are pointless... he thinks the hard drive is going bad, because even after re-installing Windows, the problem still occurs. It pops up this blue screen saying technical stuff... It's just annoying.

Aww... I'm sorry april At least it's an excuse to get a new one My computer is still kicking after over 4 years... not bad in my book Sure, I've killed it 3 or 4 times, but after the reformats and such it got better Annnd I've upgraded it 3 or 4 times too so it actually remains useful..... but you get the point ^^ Within the next few years, I'll probably get an apple laptop... I've wanted one for a while. Just want them to get a bit faster first before I spend all my money..... and get enough money to buy one as good as I want it to be in the first place

yeah.. I think desktop PCs are built to last longer than laptops though.. my desktop computer has lasted since I was like 15. But I've only had this laptop since May of 2004, so about 3 years... ugh, I can tell you one thing, I'm not buying another Dell. And yeah, excuse for a new one... already used that for an idea of what my dad can get me for my birthday coming up next month heh. He knows I need a laptop for school.. and I found one that I think I like for only $899. Just can't wait until I can get it because this one's really irritating me now. ???

Well... my laptop has officially died. Yesterday, it randomly quit working, telling me that Windows couldn't find some file or it was corrupted. So Keith tried to reformat it, and re-install Windows XP yet again...that worked for it to start up, but now it won't get to the user accounts screen. It goes through the startup WindowsXP screen, but stops at a black screen after that. So I'm assuming it's officially dead.

That sucks April, but I know how you feel. I had to send my Toshiba in twice in one month last February. Fortunately I didn't have to pay a cent, my warranty had passed but the shipping and repair was covered due to a civil suit with Toshiba. Both my husband and I have Toshiba's and besides that one problem they have served us pretty well. I hope you get a new one for your birthday.

Wow yeah, I don't really like Toshiba tho. I ended up getting a new laptop last night and I loooooove it! It's an hp, the screen is a little smaller than my old one, but that's ok because it's lighter and thinner, which means I can carry it easier at school. And it came equipped with Windows Vista, which is completely AWESOME! I just can't get enough of it. heh.
