Well, I just had a very scary experience. It was about 4:25pm and I was just sitting at work, waiting to go home. I heard my boss telling everyone to go home because there was a tornado watch in our county. I found out later that the actual tornado had touched on the ground a few blocks away. But I was a bit further away by then. I could barely drive, I was shaking so much. Then, all of a sudden it started raining VERY hard, to the point of not being able to see, so I immediately turned into the closest parking lot I could find, which just happened to be a liquor store (haha and of course they still let me in although I'm 2 months shy of being old enough). There were a couple other people in there and I must have looked very frazzled because one of the guys asked me if I was okay. It was very scary, this is one reason why I hate living in Oklahoma. I've never been out driving when the sirens go off though. That freaked me out. Now that I'm home, I checked my car and found that I have tons of little dents all over my car due to the baseball-sized hail that hit it. Hopefully, my insurance will pay to get it fixed. Tornadoes are just a big pain in the ass.

hmmm well consider yourself lucky, Shade. it is a very scary experience that I can't wait to get away from. But first I have to figure out what I wanna do with the rest of my life so I can actually get out of this state... maybe someday I'll know.. Oh also, an update... I will be taking my car to get an estimate on the damage (and the insurance is supposed to write me a check for the amount) on Thursday... but it will be awhile before they can get it fixed. It's going to be a pain, considering I need my car Monday thru Friday from 8-4:30 pm and I've experienced how long it takes to get cars fixed for even the smallest thing...

What to do with your life? Hmmmmmm. Maybe a nurse? *ahem* In Baltimore, MD, there is a nursing school called John Hopkins University. You may have even actually heard of it because it's supposed to be one of the best. *giggles* You'd make an awesome nurse.

hmmm not too sure about the nurse career, Shade.. lol I have a very weak stomach, I don't think I could handle being a nurse. I like what I do right now for the health dept. (secretary) here's an update on my car though. Turns out that it is going to cost lots more than I had planned. The hood and roof are going to be completely replaced because they suffered too much hail damage to repair.. then they have to fix other little things and corrosion or something.. lol I didn't understand alot of it. I just know it's going to cost alot. Mainly for the physical labor and the new car parts. oh well.. the main thing is that it's getting fixed

Wow ... ! Maybe I sound stupid, but I'd love to experience a tornado one day... April, as you see, I've joined up !

yes I see you joined starlight, and welcome again! hehe.. no you don't sound stupid for wanting to experience a tornado, I understand how you would want to, but I think maybe after that you wouldn't want to. It can completely destroy everything. I hate them. But maybe that's because the first one I ever experienced was around an F3 (which means that it can dislocate a house and do lots of damage) and it was also the first time that my mom was working very late (2am-8am) and me and my brother were home alone. I was scared to death, just hanging on to him and following him around (i was around 16 yrs old and he was 19 back then). It was just a very frightening experience and I've been extremely terrified of tornadoes ever since. but I've never actually been driving out when it happens so now I'm just completely paranoid all the time if it even starts raining.. lol which sounds kinda stupid huh.

the closest i got to a tornado was watching that movie Twister. we don't get tornadoes in the phils, thankfully. they look terrible. terrible and and at the same time fascinating. so i understand why starlight wants to experience them, even just the small dust devils. strangely enough, the movement of tornadoes is beautiful, too. destructive, but beautiful, and therefore fascinating. ...i wouldn't wish tornadoes on anyone though. i'd forego the experience too, in the name of self-preservation

hmmm I guess I can see where you would think that tornadoes are beautiful. ??? but not really.. I've seen the bad side of them too often... oh and i love that movie.. hehe Twister, it was filmed almost entirely in Oklahoma which was pretty cool although I never saw or met any of the actors/actresses.

We had an F4 where I live back in 1994 or 1995. Leveled the town next to me almost completely and destroyed our new (at the time) Town Center by throwing a far into it and removing parts of the roof.
Where was I when all this was going on? Outside with my dad in a lawn chair watching it hit the other side of town....
Yeah it was dumb, but kinda cool too.
If the sky isn't green then usually you are safe. I've been in 3 different tornado's and the sky was always green. If you've never seen it you will know it when you see it.

7 months late - but yes I also think tornadoes are fascinating.
Wow april! I knew u lived in Oklahoma, but I didn't know you had actually ever experienced a tornado!
And yes, I love that Twister movie too.
And yep Keefers, I know all about the "greenage." Actually, when I was visiting New Jersey, while driving through Pennsylvania there was a horrible storm - all the cars were moving along at 10 MPH on the major highway. There was INSANE rain, a little hail, strong winds, creepy lookin' clouds. It was like pitch black out at noon, and the sky had a greenish tint.
BOY was I freaked out!
