Okay, I can't help it, this annoys the crap out of me. I just found out by trying to add a friend on Steam that my account is now considered a "Limited User Account" simply because I haven't made any paid purchases via my Steam account. I'll explain that... way back when, I downloaded a F2P (free-to-play) game that was much easier (and more secure) to download via Steam rather than the game's actual website. That's the only reason I even have an account there. And I guess that makes me a potential "malicious" user, in their eyes. And yeah, while the minimum to spend to unlock these features is only $5, the amount isn't the point, it's the concept of them forcing me to make a payment in order to do something so simple, such as adding a friend who also uses Steam. I just think it's a bad move on their part, by automatically stereotyping me in with all of the actual malicious users who use their account to spam, scam or phish information.

Ah yes. Steam isn't the only site to do this.
They don't understand what the word free means when they use it to get you onto their site.

Yeah. I found that out, as you can see. I actually haven't been on Steam probably since making that post, I had to replace my hard drive in my computer as well, and I haven't even re-downloaded Steam. Mostly because I no longer play the game that I created the account for in the first place, but yeah. What other sites do that?

you could try gog april. but they have their problems as well, such as a small amount of the games not working properly.

Oh? What is that one? I've never heard of it at all. Honestly, I probably don't even have time for new games, SWTOR keeps me pretty busy because I have way too many characters, lol. But it's always good to have a backup in case I get bored in the future.

Oh yeah, I completely understand. It's more of books for me that pile up, without ever having time to read all of them. Of course, I don't help the issue by downloading the freebies that I get emailed to me every day via BookBub. Hah. Thanks for the link though, I'll keep that in mind for future reference!

Same deal with Steam. Someone tried to give a game, and it wouldn't work because I had only downloaded free to play games from them as well. Didn't care for that. But, then another friend gave me a game and it downloaded fine, I don't get that place.

Thank you again for that link smeets! I just created a new account, since I'm participating in the NaNoWriMo event this year and will possibly have stuff to add there. If you have an account there, I'd love to be friends! I could always use extra motivation wherever I can find it.

dude, that's an epic challenge. have fun. don't get distracted too much. i participated in the 24 hour comic in 2006. comics are 24 pages so it forces people to draw a page an hour. i stayed up all 24 hours and still didn't finish. but i did get a good rough draft comic out of it - something to build on and take my time with.
ok, i added you. i'm gonna put some new stuff on there myself soon.

Wow, yeah, that sounds really intense also! I joined spontaneously, really, and I'm using it the same way that you did... because I will most likely not finish, but at least I feel accomplished in coming up with an idea that is purely from imagination and not based on personal experiences, like most of my writing is. Not getting distracted may be difficult though, since I have so much going on this month, what with trying to get the last 10 books of my reading challenge done in the next 2 months, and making sure we're ready for our long drive, which will be happening two weeks from Friday... yeah, I think I bit off more than I can chew. It may be a little bit of time before I add anything else to my profile, as I feel like everything needs to have a custom cover before uploading (I know it's not required and that there is the automatic cover option, but it's just me needing it to feel more personalized than that)

i get you. i know it's difficult to be consistent with something. it took me 8 years to finish my graphic novel - meanwhile in that time-frame neil gaiman or frank miller can produce 8 comics i have an intellectual friend that tells me were not supposed to work as hard as we do. it's not natural. most people in high end jobs (lawyers, salesman, college teachers) work from the minute they get up to the minute they go to bed with or without a family life. they are growing faster than they can keep up with their own growth. everything is just being hemorrhaged, suppressed, and sacrificed. he's really smart and we stay up talking about this kinda stuff. that being said, if people want to put their career first - go for it - if that's your priority. but don't expect to have a family life.
