So yes, I ended up having to go in to the courthouse for jury duty this morning. Still here, actually, for the past two hours and nothing has happened, other than a 5 min orientation/video and a 20 min break. Also had to drive to the furthest location available to me, and let me tell you, I definitely do not miss having to deal with early morning traffic AT ALL. It's going to be a long day, from the looks of it... Update: I didn't end up getting selected to serve on a case (didn't even make it up into the court room), and it wasn't as long of a day as I thought. Though it sure felt like it, seeing as I didn't get hardly any sleep last night and had such an early morning and stressful 3½ hours waiting in the assembly room.

I'm new to this forum and I was reading some of the things that have been posted when I came across this one.
I have to say I sympathize with you April. I actually had jury duty back in February. Funny thing is I shouldn't have even gotten a notice again. This was my 2nd one in less than a year. I have a special needs child at home. I'm his sole caretaker. I filled the paperwork out and sent it in like I was suppose to with all the documents they requested. Obviously they didn't get the info cause I got called.
Decided just to do it. I went in and I knew if I got chosen I was going to be there for awhile. The judge in the case actually came out and spoke to all of us that was going to potentially be on his jury. We had questionnaires that we had to fill out once we get those filled out they basically dismissed us and said we'll be getting a call on Friday those who have to come back on Monday won't receive a phone call. Of course everybody was hoping that they received that phone call. Unfortunately I didn't say I had to go back in on Monday winning on Monday and that's when they decided to choose the potential jurors and they let us know what day we need to come back in order to go up in front of the lawyers.
I forgot to mention what the case is about this guy was basically being charged with first-degree murder second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Come to find out this is going to be a very difficult case for the prosecution to try because they had nobody and they had no weapon it was just all a bunch of circumstantial evidence. But there was enough circumstantial evidence that they felt that they had a case.
Well I ended up having to go in the next day which was Tuesday which also happened to you by birthday I said around that place for 5 hours and literally I was the next person to be called in to talk to the lawyers I mean the next person whenever the judge's clerk comes in and says it's almost 1:30 and the judge stop doing everything at 1:30 so we're going to go ahead and call it for the day and everybody who has not done anything yet has to come back tomorrow talking about pissed and upset oh my God I was just like come on and just let me go in front of them a minute but no I had to come back the next day. So I go back and of course the one lawyer looks at the thing he says I see yesterday was your birthday and I'm like yeah happy birthday to me anyhow so they ask me the questions and everything that's where I learned just from the questions that they were asking me that there was nobody know Batman and that this dude's wife just disappeared who knows what happened to her. Anyhow I answered all the questions and everything I just like okay well we'll get back to you by the end of the week and let you know whether you're going to be on the jury or not. Turns out I didn't get chosen so obviously somewhere along the line so they didn't like something that I said oh well anyhow the trial actually started the following week and it didn't get over until the beginning of May and it was supposed to be over around the middle of March I read up on it and it turns out they found the guy innocent so there you go. No honesty I have no idea if I would have been on that jury which way I would have swan especially knowing the information I know now the course I wouldn't have known them because we weren't allowed to read the newspapers watch the news do any of that stuff so.

Wow, yes I can see how you can sympathize, but I have to say that your experience was entirely worse than mine! Not to mention, pretty unfair, since like you mentioned, you shouldn’t have even received a notice at all after having served within the year. The last time I was called up before this year, I didn’t even have to go into the courthouse, just had to check online to see if my group had to report and ended up not having to. But I’m sorry to hear that you had to deal with all that nonsense! I hope you don’t have to deal with that again anytime in the near future. My problem with it all was that I mainly just psyched myself out too much during the days leading up to it, which led to entirely too much unnecessary stress. Oh and welcome to CYN, by the way!

How's everyone doing? I haven't posted anything in awhile because I've been ultra busy and gave my forum a huge overhaul and dropping weight using the TENS shock device 20 minutes a day.

Hi all, so sorry that I have not been around much. My medical billing & coding class started on October 14, as well as a temporary job that runs until 5pm, after which I head to my 3.5 hour class (on Mondays & Wednesdays), plus having a 1.5-2 hour commute home on the days I don't have class... granted, I don't have ANY free time anymore whatsoever. Whenever I'm not driving to & from work, eating, working, or sleeping, I'm buried in one of the books for class. Long story short... I really miss my free time.

So, what am I up to? With all the work I do on my videos for YouTube I always take Saturday and Sunday off so I'm refreshed by Monday. Monday afternoon I plan to do a recording for a new podcast I'm doing with my cousin, and on Wednesday I begin the there day process of making a new review episode. What I tend to do is do on camera scenes on the first day, the audio session on the second, and editing on the third. That way I pace myself and don't feel overworked. It's worked so far.
