I stole this from Luca's board.. hehe.. So, tell us about the history of your name. Your username, that is. Or your real one, whichever you want. Just explain how you came up with it. I'll start. Mine is pretty simple lol, it is my real name, but I can tell you how my mother came up with the idea of naming me. It was back in the 80's when the name "April" was not very popular. I should explain that my aunt (my dad's brother's wife) had always wanted a little girl and she always managed having boys. Well, April was the name that she had wanted for her daughter. So my mom thought to name me that. for usernames, I mainly use "babygurl" and that is just a pet name that my ex-boyfriend always called me and it just kinda stuck with me. Ok now it's your turn....

sure, why not? my name is kosi. (but you all knew that.) kosi was derived from my given first name, which is akosua. get it? akos ua? the "i" at the end was added for cutesification, the way robert becomes rob which then becomes robbie. (i'm still not certain how richard becomes dick, but that's a different issue.) and... my grandmother's name was akosua. so that's why for that. my screen name would be flowrgrl779... i have no explaination for the 779. just a random assortment of numbers. the flowrgrl part comes from... ninth grade french, of all places. i used to finish my tests before anyone else in the class, and so i would draw flowers to kill time. so my teacher called me "flower girl." of course, nobody else has ever called me this, but somehow it became my screen name.

Monkeyshine is an actual word... I found it in the dictionary. It means: A mischievous or playful trick; a prank. Which is strange because I hate it when people play pranks on other people, 'tis rude. My mum named me Katrina Marie, and my grandmother loved the name too... She just liked the name, no other reason.. But Katrina means : Pure, Virginal. And Marie is a varient of Mary: Sea of Bitterness So I'm just a pure sea of bitterness. www.zelo.com/firstnames/index.asp

My handle online is usually DesoShade, which consists of 2 words. Desolate, and Shade. Here's the truth about it. The first to come in, was Shade. It wasn't until the internet was over populated with other Shades, that I added Deso (Desolate)
Shade As defined by my dictionary: Slight darkness caused by a more or less opaque object cutting off rays of light, as from the sun. An area less brightlyi lighted than it's surroundings, as an open place sheltered from sunlight. A secluded place. A representation of darkness. A small difference. A slight amount or degree off of a certain color. A ghost or spirity or anything lacking reality. Any device used to protect or screen from light. An object for diffusing or directing light in full. Sunglasses. To hide or screen as with a shadow. To darken or dim. To change by very little. To lessen slightly.
In or into darkness or shadow. In or into comparative obscurity. The increasing darkness, such as of evening. Hades (home of the dead, beneath the earth. The ruler of the underworld. The resting place of the dead. Hell)
The second part, which I added later, is Desolate: To make lonely. Lonely; solitary. Uninhabited or deserted. Made uninhabital. Waste. Forlorn or wretched. To make rid of inhabitants. To lay to waste. To devastate. Destroyed or left in ruins. To forsake or abandon. To make as forlorn or wretched. Lonely grief or misery. Loneliness. A secluded place.
The two words together form: DesoShade as if to say, a lonely, forsaken, abandoned dark person living in a wasteland of dead spirits in which no light has ever been allowed to shine.
Now you know the truth about meeeee.

My Nickname is Flightless,
It is so 'cos that is what it was when i was in the Army. I was a parachute soldier, hence we would jump out of Perfectly good service aircraft.
I was given the nickname by a good friend of mine when both my main and reserve parachutes failed, apparently i just whizzed past all my mates waving my arms.
I passed out somewhere about 3,000 feet up but was 'caught' by my mate who released his main 'chute and proceeded to 'fly' to me and then clipped me to his harness before deploying his reserve 'chute.
Apparently we came down at quite a pace, he broke both his legs and i broke an arm.
He was awarded a gallantry medal for his actions and i was given a nickname - 'Flightless'.

Thanks, that all happened 12 years ago. My arm healed quite quickly and I couldn't wait to go back up again, even tho I was a little scared.
I did and overcame the fear of it happening again.

Shanny is my nickname cause it's just easier to say and write and Sweet Shanny is my s/n on MSN cause lot's of ppl would say "oh you're so sweet Shanny" so since I heard it a lot I decided to make it my s/n.
