Why do government agencies make things so freaking difficult?! At the end of this month, mum and I are going on a 13-night South-Pacific cruise to Fiji and New Caledonia, during which time, I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday. Since I have a part-time job, I have to report my income to Centrelink every two weeks. Mum was told to call them two weeks before we leave because my income reporting day is right in the middle of when we're away. Therefore, we intended on calling them today. Just spent nearly two hours on the phone trying to get hold of someone, but no-one answered. Spoke to a computer that requested a pin number, which we don't have. Instead of telling us how to get a pin number, the phone just hung up. Mum says she'll try and ring them again tomorrow, if she still can't get through, we'll have to visit the local Centrelink office. Don't understand how elderly and disabled people get along with using these services.

Sorry you're dealing with that.

Spent over an hour on the phone with Centrelink this morning. Managed to get today's income reporting done but I still couldn't get anywhere regarding early income reporting. They've told me to call back on Thursday, but I'll be at work. Will try calling them again tomorrow. If I still can't get anywhere with it, I'll have to try again on Thursday morning before I go to work. Won't be able to do anything after Thursday because Friday's a public holiday, Centrelink is closed on weekends and I leave for the cruise next Monday. At least the guy I spoke to was very apologetic for keeping me on hold for so long.

After being on the phone all freaking day, I might have finally gotten somewhere with Centrelink. Was put through to the department that deals with disability payments, hopefully the woman I spoke to correctly recorded all the travel and income details I gave her. She said if I get overpaid I'll have to sort it out when I get home from the cruise.

Sounds like you at least are on the right track to getting it sorted out. I'm sorry you're having to deal with that kind of stuff too. That sounds highly frustrating.
